New Regional STEMI Plan Announced PDF Print E-mail

The Board of Directors for the Lord Fairfax EMS Council recently approved a new plan titled Regional RST-Elevated Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) Plan. This new plan is to be implemented throughout the Council region and has been e-mailed to all EMS agencies within the region. Help=Hope Veteran & First Responder Forum PDF Print E-mail

Please join us Saturday, September 26th at the Clarke County High School for a public forum and information exchange on PTSD and suicide awareness, prevention, and recovery. Volunteers from the Council's Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team will be on hand to talk with participants. This event focuses on supporting our local veterans and first responders within the area. Doors open at 10:00am with the program beginning at 10:30am. Lunch will be served immediately after. This event is being hosted by the Clarke County VFW and VFW Auxiliary.

Ramp Closures on Route 37 at WMC PDF Print E-mail

Construction is underway on an extensive upgrade to the Route 37/Winchester Medical Center interchange, which currently provides access to the WMC campus located on the east side of the highway. Beginning Wednesday, August 26, 2015, the two ramps of the southbound lanes of Route 37 at the WMC interchange will be closed. More


 

 
Hospital Hub at Winchester Medical Center PDF Print E-mail

Effective August 1, 2015 Winchester Medical Center will have the capability to view ePCRs via Hospital Hub. Staff at the hospital are in the process of training individuals to use the program. More


 

 
Arrival of new Training Center Coordinator PDF Print E-mail

 jeff waltzThe Council is pleased to announce the addition of our new AHA Training Center Coordinator. Jeff Waltz is a former middle school teacher & previously worked at a corrections facility teaching GED classes to young adults ages 18-21. He & his wife live in Strasburg, VA & just had their first child last week! They named their new baby girl Alaska Mercy & mom & baby are both doing well!

Please join us in welcoming Jeff as he gets his feet wet & gets to know everyone in the coming weeks. His first day will be Monday, March 16th.

On October 28, 2014, the Lord Fairfax EMS Council has released a guidance document along with screening guidelines to assist EMS agencies within the region to draft and revise current SOPs to address the possible transport of a patient suspected to have Ebola. Because of the fluid nature of this situation, both documents will be reviewed daily and revised as new guidance from the VA Dept. of Health and the CDC is made available.   . More


 

 
Upcoming Regulatory Change effective November 24, 2014 PDF Print E-mail

During the 2013 session of the General Assembly, several bills were introduced and subsequently passed to amend the Code of Virginia permitting certified EMS personnel acting within their scope of practice to administer drugs and devices pursuant to an oral or written order or standing protocol. The Board of Pharmacy adopted these changes within their regulations and effective November 24, 2014, the Virginia EMS Regulations will change to reflect those changes in the Board of Pharmacy regulations to remove the requirement of a practioner's signature for any drug administration, patient assisted medications or invasive therapy. 2014 Signature Removal Memo 11172014

EMS-Grant Information Funding Tool coming soon! PDF Print E-mail

The Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) is in the final stages of implementing their new web-based RSAF grant system, known as E-Gift (EMS-Grant Information Funding Tool). This system will be required for the NEXT RSAF grant cycle beginning on August 1, 2014 with the deadline being September 15, 2014. The E-Gift will replace the Consolidated Grant Application Program (CGAP), the software program used in the past and will automate the grant process by using a web-based system to pre-populate agency data making the grant process easier to navigate. More
